All In the Family

Welcome to my humble abode.

The windows here actually let in lots of light, which makes such a huge difference. I rent this room from Mama, who owns the concession.  She is a widow, this was her late husband’s house.  I’m pretty sure that she makes her whole income from rent.  I pay an outrageously inflated toubab price of $25 a month.

Meet Mama:

Ma and Papu are some of her children, she has eight in total.

Fatim is three and knows that she is probably the cutest kid around:

But I think Batuma probably knows she is my favorite.  Devon always shook her hand whenever she saw her, so now every morning she greets me with a demanding outstretched baby hand. When I oblige and greet her, she always smiles back.  Batuma just got her head shaved, which, not surprisingly, she did not enjoy.
